What is ECITA?

The Electronic Cigarette Industry Trade Association (ECITA) is a UK-based trade association, whose founding members include the largest electronic cigarette distributors within the UK, namely:

• Cloud J Vaping
• Decadent Vapours
• E-Lites
• Free Genie
• Liberro
• Liberty Flights
• Mirage Cigarettes
• Vapestick

Paid membership of ECITA is open to anyone involved in selling electronic cigarettes, including cartridges and accessories, subject to compliance with the organisation’s code of conduct.

ECITA was formed in response to the various regulatory challenges facing electronic cigarettes around the world. Its stated mission is to ensure that the “correct regulatory framework is applied to these products now and for the future”. It aims to achieve greater credibility for the electronic cigarette industry as a whole.

Members of ECITA receive expert guidance on the sometimes complex rules and regulations applied to electronic cigarettes, as well as news of all the latest technology and political developments.

Members receive a convenient Trading Standards Pack, which sets out in detail all the regulations with which electronic cigarette vendors must comply within the UK. These include:

• Chemical Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply (CHIP) regulations
• Plugs and Sockets regulations
• Weights and Measures regulations
• Distance Selling regulations
• Online Privacy regulations
• Importing Goods regulations

Members are entitled to display the ECITA logo on their website as a certification of excellence. Members can also network and exchange news and views on the ECITA forum.

An innovative virtual visitor’s centre, also open to non-members, features a full library of information on electronic cigarettes, including the latest technology and research, press releases, press releases and informed analyses.
