Impressing the In-Laws with my Electronic Cigarette

This week I battled my tobacco cravings, the in-laws and bank holiday traffic! This has been the hardest week so far; the stress inducing, twelve-hour, bumper to bumper roundtrip to the in-laws caused my cravings to hit the roof. I've never been so attached to my electronic cigarette.

Being able to use my electronic cigarette in the car was an absolute life saver. As the bank holiday rains poured and the traffic crept forward I could 'vape' away safe in the knowledge that my increased stress levels didn't have to lead to a peak in cancerous chemicals. It not only saved a lot of arguments about pulling over every hour just so I could have a cig, it also meant I could smoke in the car without the inside roof holding the smoke smell (according to my girlfriend this devalues the car and makes it much harder to sell). So brownie points all round!

Next was the in-laws. There's nothing scarier than meeting your bird's family, knowing they're judging you – inevitably I was stressed. Both are non-smokers so I despise going outside for a cigarette knowing they're adding up how many I'm having and ultimately how I'll break their little girl's heart when I die a slow and painful smoke-related death, leaving her widowed with ten kids by forty!

Luckily my e-cig calmed my nerves, I didn't bring the smoker smell into their house and I got to show them my clean and honest intentions to stop smoking. They were pretty impressed with my electronic cigarette and I got to smoke indoors which also meant more brownie points for making idle chit-chat with the family.

Next was a wedding, more judging by her friends with the added element of alcohol, neither a great scenario for someone trying to quit smoking. I've always found smoking sociable at events, especially with the smoking ban, any mingling usually sparks from a conversation in the smoking area. This is a hard habit to break and something I've come to rely on, in a situation like this I would have much preferred to be a smoker. To overcome this I went outside to use my electronic cigarette, it sparked up a lot of conversations and comments so I'd recommend it!

TIP OF THE WEEK: When travelling anywhere, especially to circumstances where you know you will want to smoke, make sure you have more than enough re-fills and charge the battery as much as possible, just in case!
